HerdPlan
*Available now*
HerdPlan is an innovative web application designed to boost health risk management for beef and sheep farmers and their vets. Created by SRUC’s Veterinary Services team and funded by the Scottish Government, HerdPlan helps farmers and vets work together to create proactive health plans, efficiently and in an organised way, ultimately boosting productivity and farm income.
Launched on 17 October 2024, HerdPlan is transforming health planning by moving away from traditional paper methods. This online tool brings the whole farm team—including farm staff, vets, nutritionists, and other advisors—together to work on health planning and conduct regular risk reviews. By prioritising and updating vaccination strategies, infectious disease protocols, biosecurity measures, and other crucial tasks in real-time, HerdPlan enhances overall health risk management.
HerdPlan also makes it easier to comply with health plan requirements set by Red Tractor and QMS, ensuring nothing is missed in the approval process. It streamlines vet approvals, antibiotic reviews, and other health and welfare assessments, making it simple for both farmers and vets to meet necessary standards and confirm all requirements are met.
HerdPlan Forecasting tool
*Available now*
Our free forecasting tool, included in our livestock health planning services, is designed to help beef and sheep farmers predict the value of their breeding herds or flocks. This powerful tool generates three types of forecasts worst case scenario: a hypothetical pessimistic forecast, best case scenario: a hypothetical optimistic forecast and custom scenario: tailored to the farm-specific parameters, allowing farmers to better understand the business opportunities and risks associated with livestock health.
By utilising farm-specific data and real market prices, our tool empowers farmers to make informed decisions about health interventions and planning activities.
Sheep and Suckler Cow Animal Health Planning System (SAHPS)
The Sheep and Suckler Cow Animal Health Planning System (SAHPS) is a web-based tool designed for farmers and vets to easily access, update, and review health and production data, creating a dynamic health plan for their animals.
Important Notice: SAHPS will remain available until April 2026. After this period, SAHPS will be discontinued. In the meantime, no further developments or changes will be made.
New Memberships: We will not accept any new member registrations on SAHPS. However, we highly recommend existing vet practice members to add any new clients to HerdPlan.
For further information on the discontinuation of SAHPS, please contact us at enquiries@sahps.co.uk
Mobile app
The SAHPS mobile app lets you instantly record data while out and about, even without internet connection. The data is then automatically collated into the SAHPS health plan once you have access to WiFi again. The app creates the e-medicine book, integrates with BCMS/ScotEID and can be used as a useful stand-alone tool. Please download the app promotional flyer for more information.
