Taught Degree Awarding Powers were conferred by the Privy Council and approved by the Scottish Parliament on 14 October 2024, and the first cohort of vet students started their studies at the new School of Veterinary Medicine the same day.
Our BVSci veterinary medicine training programme is the first degree that will be entirely delivered and awarded by SRUC, and applications for 2025 entry remain open in UCAS.
Applications submitted to UCAS prior to 15 October are currently being processed.

As only the third Veterinary School in Scotland and the first in over 150 years, the SRUC School of Veterinary Medicine will prepare students for work in the increasingly important rural mixed practice, agricultural and food sectors.
Why are we different? The SRUC School of Veterinary Medicine will use innovative teaching methods and curriculum design to ensure that students are fully prepared to work in the variety of high demand sectors.
We offer new pathway programmes aimed at those from rural backgrounds who are familiar with the agricultural sector but may not have - or been able to get - the required scientific foundations.
